Dr. Belcher published more than 100 articles and two books on a variety of subjects about tree seeds.  He retired in 1986 and became a care-giver for the next 22 years.  He didn’t begin creative writing until he turned 75 years of age.  Since then he has won several awards for his short stories.  He spends a large amount of time helping beginning writers.  He is working on more audio books and an autobiography.

      Dr. Belcher holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Arkansas A&M.; a master’s from Yale University in forest genetics; and a PhD in Botany from Iowa State University.  He also received the Secretary of Agriculture’s Superior Service Award for his pioneering x-ray evaluation of seeds.  Many of his professional articles are on Google.
